My literacy groups started today and I couldn't be happier!!! I love working with the kids and witnessing their enthusiasm and growth.  Please encourage and support your child's nightly reading. As with any activity, practice promotes improvement! 

Congrats to those who are taking part in Bethke's first book challenge! For the next 6-8 weeks, participants will be reading and and discussing five great books.  At the end of this period, there will be a fun, trivia-oriented challenge to celebrate reading accomplishments.

The five book selections are:

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
The Magician's Elephant by Kate DiCamillo and Yoko Tanaka
Zoobreak by Gordon Korman
11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass
The Leanin' Dog by Kathy Nuzman and Liz Morton

My book group will be meeting on Fridays in Room 138 at the beginning of lunch recess.  Don't forget to bring a cold lunch.
